Explore documents with the navigator

The navigator shows how your documents relate to one another. Relationships between documents can either be created expicitly by your team, or automatically inferred by AI as part of the Contextualisation process.

Open the navigator

Select Navigator in the action bar. If you have rows selected on the Documents page, you can also select Document navigator in the bulk bar. Both open the same graph.

If Navigator is not in your action bar, turn it on in the Document action bar block of your settings.

What you see when it opens depends on what you had selected:

• With documents selected — the header shows how many, and those documents form your starting working set.
• With nothing selected — the header reads "Showing all documents", Show all documents is ticked for you, and every document in view appears in the graph. The navigator is never blank.

Read the graph

Documents in your working set are drawn solid. Everything else is greyed: either the documents linked to your working set, or — when Show all documents is ticked — every document in view.

Add and remove documents

Select a greyed document to bring it into the working set. It turns solid, and the documents linked to it in turn appear greyed around it, so you can keep following the trail.

Select a solid document to take it back out of the working set. It reappears greyed if it is still linked to something that remains.

This is local exploration. By default, what you do in the graph does not change what you have selected on the Documents page.

Take your exploration back to the Documents page

Tick Add explored documents to selection. Every document you have explored into the graph beyond the ones you started with is added to your selection on the Documents page. From then on, the selection and the bulk bar count follow the graph as you add and remove documents. Back on the Documents page, open a row's details to see everything Tiro Pro holds about one document.

This tick box is cleared each time you open the navigator.

Choose what the graph includes

Three tick boxes in the header govern what you see:

• Show all documents — show every document in view, greyed, rather than only those linked to your working set. Cleared each time you open the navigator, except when you open it with nothing selected.
• Show team documents — widen the search from your own documents to everyone's on the active team. It is off to begin with, and stays as you set it for next time.
• Add explored documents to selection — see above. Off to begin with, and cleared each time you open the navigator.

Show team documents changes only what the navigator looks through. It never hides a document already in your working set: if you selected a colleague's document on the Documents page, it appears solid in the graph whether or not the tick box is on.

The navigator shows one team at a time

The navigator only ever shows documents belonging to the team you are working in. If you belong to more than one team, you won't see another team's documents here. To look at a different team's documents, switch into that team and re-open the navigator.

Contextualise from the navigator

On the Documents page, select Contextualise to launch AI contextualisation of the selected documents. The Contextualise window opens on top of the graph.
